Description
The Hartington is a memorial in light grey granite with an ogee shaped top. An ogee is the double curve, concave above and convex below, that gives the headstone its soft shouldered profile.
Light grey is the quietest of the granites and the closest in character to traditional churchyard stone, which is why it is so often chosen for a churchyard rather than a cemetery.
One point matters here. When the Hartington is used in a churchyard it must be in the matt finish rather than polished. Many churchyards set rules on finish, height and material, and we will check what applies where the memorial is going before anything is ordered.
All of our workmanship complies with the National Association of Memorial Masons Code of Practice. Materials are selected from all over the world, and we will advise you on which are suitable for a particular design and for the churchyard or cemetery where the memorial will stand.
Almost any design can be produced in almost any material. If you have seen a memorial you like and have a photograph or a sketch of it, show it to us and we will work from that. We also carry out maintenance and renovation, and have long experience of restoring older memorials.
